While I have three manuscripts in progress at the moment, the one I'm most focused on is a stand-alone paranormal romance / thriller that utilizes some of the characters from my book "Mirror, Mirror" in secondary, background roles. It's fun to return, partially, to one of my own worlds and weave another tale!
While I haven't settled on a title yet, I'm referring to it as 'Guardian.' It's the story of a disgraced angel Jocen, exiled from heaven and banished to a purgatory where it is his sole duty to escort souls to their final rest, and of Shea, a lonely and misguided woman. When Shea's life is threatened in the mortal realm and she finds herself in Jocen's domain, can they help save each other? Is this the test Jocen has waited eons for that will bring him back to his Father's good graces? Or will he follow his heart and risk it all to help Shea return to her human life?
I'm very much a free-form writer (no outlines for this girl!) and I have a general sense of where I want the story to go, several major plot points and story lines, but it's the organic process of getting from point A to point Z that keeps me entertained. And if I'm not entertained while writing it, you certainly won't be when you read it!
The second work-in-progress is a sequel to "Mirror, Mirror" but could be read as a stand alone. I'm thinking of calling it "At the Stroke of Midnight" and it follows Sam Williamson as she digs into a story about a cluster of mysterious deaths involving Portland teens. I haven't decided where or how the paranormal will come into play yet, but it will! I've toyed with the idea of bringing Audrey, one of my characters (a psychic) from "Desolation Gulch," into it. The idea is tempting, but I need to make sure I'm doing it because it's the right decision for the story, not just because I think it'd be fun.
The last project is a total departure for me! It's a young adult fantasy tale I'm calling "Shirryn Elda" set on another planet, replete with strange races, creatures, and magic. It has the potential to be a three book series (at least with the plot points and events currently kicking around in my head). The fist book is in its editing phase and book 2 was my NaNoWriMo 2017 project. I doubt I’ll publish until all three books are complete, so stay tuned!
I have more ideas ready to go, but I've promised myself that three books at a time is my max! Any more and I run the risk of a fractured psyche! It's hard having that many characters living in your head at once.

I have my grandmother to thank for getting me started down this path. She encouraged me to start writing when I was ten years old. My first short story centered around a skeleton key she had brought home as a souvenir from a castle in Spain. The tale was replete with teen angst, nightmares, and haunted suits of armor. After that, I had 'the bug.'
Story ideas seem to hit me like lightning. I'll often wake in the middle of the night with an idea and I have to begin writing it immediately... even if it's just a page or two. If I wait too long the idea withers and is harder for me to flesh out in the future.
