Beverly McCall
Beverly McCall asked Jane Blythe:

Do you use some of the writing strategies you teach students in our own work?

Jane Blythe Hmmm . . . kind of tough question, at the moment I am only teaching preschool, although I have taught up to 6th grade, and I only substitute teach right now, however I still feel my answer is yes. Okay so preschoolers are really only going to be learning their name, but I think the basic principals of writing, at least my writing, still apply.

Plan first, I get the kids to think about their name and the letters and what those letters looks like.

Then work hard, it takes time and thought to complete a piece of writing whether it be a novel or your name.

Next keep trying and never give up, it will take you time to perfect your writing.

Practice, you only get better at something if you keep working on it.

Look back over your work, you see things you did well and things that you can improve.

And lastly enjoy, kids learn to write when they are motivated and enjoying it, the same thing is true for writing a book, if you love what you are doing it will show!
