Lilah Weller asked this question about The Drawing of the Three (The Dark Tower, #2):
Can I just make an observation and say that Stephen King does not know how the Cardinal Directions work? He keeps saying that they're moving North, and then say that the sun is in the West, to their right, which is incorrect. West would be to the left. Are the directions backwards in Roland's world?
Grant Hayward I noticed that too, but I also noticed that all three people who's mind he entered were in New York (Eastern Coast), and they were walking up the west…moreI noticed that too, but I also noticed that all three people who's mind he entered were in New York (Eastern Coast), and they were walking up the western sea's coastline. I'm pretty sure that's a deliberate thing, like a mirror image of the world, or something. Just the way he points out the directions in his writing shows that he's deliberately(but not so deliberately) pointing it out.(less)
