Goodreads asked Elizabeth S. Eiler:

Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

Elizabeth S. Eiler "Swift and Brave: Sacred Souls of Animals" was inspired by my desire to write a book about the spiritual substance and worth of animals, how each kind of being fits into the continuum of life, and how our missions both differ and are the same. Preparing my doctoral dissertation about animal spirituality, writing "Other Nations" to illuminate animals and healing, and teaching women about spirituality all fanned the flames of inspiration for "Swift and Brave." It was a three-year labor of love, research, and experience that I hope adds to the body of work helping to enlighten humanity's views of the animal kingdom and increase our respect for nature.
