Jaron plays an instrument called a fippler in the first book. Is that a real thing? If not, sort of what is it based off of? Any story behind the name or anything?

A fipple is an actual word - it's the name of the mouthpiece on a flute or other wind instrument. So I borrowed from that to name Jaron's instrument. A tippler would be long, like a simple flute, but played like a recorder.
