I read this last night and was totally confused about the ending/twist! So Carrie got away and transferred her money? I actually thought Anne was still alive and Carrie was lying... totally confused.

I kept wanting to …moreI agree about the character of Lo being unlikeable, especially in the beginning of the book -- it almost made me put the book down. I kept wanting to shake her and straighten her out. But as the plot thickened, I was more impressed with the author's crafting of the story and its delicious confusions -- and totally impressed with the way she tied up the loose ends on the last page. This made it worth the negative feelings I had about the character.

To be fair, Lo's erratic behavior was related to her insecurities of the past, and this was an important part of why neither the security guy nor the reader is sure they can trust her story. As for the rudeness, that may have been laid on heavier than necessary.(less)
