I recently watched a program on PBS about the first 9 months of our lives. It included a lot of information new to me about gene mutations that cause rare variations in human development. One of these was a gene involved in bone creation during gestation. A baby was born with no bones. She has lived thanks to a new treatment. Were you aware of this when you were writing about Miles?

Since I wrote Miles starting in 1983, no. He predates a great deal of late 20th/early 21st C. medical development, actually. Fascinating new stuff is coming along constantly, but since I lack a time machine, my books can't take advantage of it.

Do you still sign at Uncle Hugo's in Minneapolis on occasion? We are planning to drive from Long Island to Dallas this fall & fiancee has angling for a detour through Wisconsin for the cheese. I am counter-angling to drive just a bit further to Minneapolis because... science fiction bookstore. If you do still sign and I could schedule that just right... shazam!

I love your writing in general and your Vorkosigan series sits next to Sherlock Holmes and Harry Dresden on my most beloved reads shelf. Actually, since my eyes aren't what they used to be, I will add that I am very pleased you found such a good narrator in Grover!
