When you write a book do you already have the entire plot already worked out or do you just come up with a basic premise and run with it? With the middle and end still to be decided

Travis McBee With some books I'll have the entire thing either plotted out or at least planned in my head, but I usually write without knowing where exactly it's going to go. Sometimes I'll think I know what's going to happen, but it ends up being completely different.
