When writing a short story, do you typically write the whole thing, or do you set a goal for your word count? I just started writing my own short stories and find myself only writing 2000 words a day. How many words should a beginner write a day? Thanks so much!

I usually try to write the entire thing in one sitting. However, most of my "short stories" tend to end up being 10-20k words long, so it's not uncommon for me to spend up to a week on the first draft.
