There was a scene or two where I was worried about the main character, but I guess the framing of the story makes it hard to worry too much about her (ie., she seems fairly safe and sound, if not a little neurotic/lost, which just as likely resulted from her upbringing as to any damage from the Manson-like cult--however, I still have like 75 pages, so maybe something more will be revealed). The book is pretty easy to put down but I keep coming back because I'm pretty sure something exciting is going to happen. I'm commenting because I just don't get the hype over this book, and I was super psyched to read it, too :((less)
