If a movie is R-Rated for using more than one f-word, than why is a book filled with over 100 f-words marketed as a young adult novel?

Well, I think it's because movies are more out there, if that makes sense. Winger is a young adult novel, and the language is nothing new to teenagers of that age, so it's basically the author trying to make the novel as realistic as possible. Also maybe it's because in movies, they're said out loud? I've noticed that most YA adaptations take out most of the f-bombs, so I guess it's just based on the fact that it's a book for teenagers.(less)
