Hi Rachel. In general, how long does it take to finish writing a book?

Rachel Caine It's SO subjective. Some people take years, and that's good for their process. I'm a fast writer, and I really like to move quickly, so for me, the first draft is usually about 6 weeks. I've done it in as few as 3 weeks, but generally I'm good at 6 weeks, 8 if it's an exceptionally complicated book.

That is NOT a benchmark, though. It's just a speed that works for me.

I just finished STILLHOUSE LAKE. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Has there been any talk of making a movie from the story? As I read the book I was constantly "casting" who would play the various characters. Superb suspense. I can't wait for the follow-up!
