Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

Rachel Caine Not every book starts the same. This one started from a mental image ... literally, as a tarot card (The Tower, if you're into that kind of thing) ... only in this tarot, there was an army fighting at the base, and one man walking through the fighting untouched, carrying an armload of books while all around him people struggled to get out of the fight.

I had to know who this person was, and why he was exempt from the battle ... and most of all, why he was carrying books.

That's where the whole idea originally started.
