I just have to tell you that this book absolutely blew me away. I'm a librarian, so I read a lot of books. To contrast that, I'm a mom of 3 young boys who works full time, so it generally takes me a lot longer than it used to. I could not put your book down. Ignored my husband, ignored the kids, read it while I ate... got through it in one weekend. It is probably one of my all-time favorites in modern literature?

Hi Myriah,
Well thanks! I'm glad you liked it, and I'm particularly tickled when actual librarians dig this book. Thanks for saying so!

I cannot overstate how much I enjoyed Mount Char. I've been shuffling around in an existential fog for a coupla hours since finishing it...thanks for that! Curious to know the inspiration for planes of reality being rooted in emotion (i.e. plane of anguish) when most other fantastical happenings are explained rather scientifically by Carolyn?

It's a trivial detail but... I'm going to ask it anyway to satisfy my curiosity. If Carolyn's catalog is to know every other language there is, including the language of animals, why does she still have a difficult time communicating with Michael? Sticking only to her own catalog, can Carolyn learn the language of animals up to a certain depth? Or did I just misunderstand that part of the novel?

You mention in the Qwillery interview that Erwin and Steve were Protagonists. I'm curious; Where your other characters fall? Either protag or antag. And I love the moral ambiguity of some of the characters. Carolyn and Father specifically. Father to me felt "evil" throughout the narrative and not by then end, and Carolyn who came across as good, until she didn't, but then redeemed herself
