A Goodreads user asked Michelle Sutton:

As an edgy Christian writer, I'm finding it difficult to promote my novel to other Christians because of how edgy it "appears" at first glance. Any suggestions?

Michelle Sutton Sorry I just saw this. Unfortunately, a lot of Christian readers prefer the rated G type stories. But there is a niche market out there of people who like to read about real conflict. Just be honest and be yourself. I've written about every taboo subject out there and most people find the stories insightful, but there are a few people who hate them because the characters aren't perfect and mess up a lot. So technically if you write a good story and word gets out that it's a good story and the writing is good, then you'll get a readership that way. The only other option is to sell-out and write straight up secular fiction (which is impossible for me to do) or write stuff with no depth just to make sure you don't offend anyone (also not me.) I may not be getting rich, but I know that my books do touch readers hearts and even if it only changes one person's life, that's enough to keep me going. Sorry for such a long answer.
