A Goodreads user asked Scott Sigler:

My question is from Lord Byron's quote "Truth is stranger than fiction". Is the truth sometimes stranger than fiction? What You think as writer? Best regards: A. Tomov – junior

Scott Sigler My work focuses on biological science. Some of the things I read about parasite life cycles blow away anything I could imagine. So in that regard, the truth is often stranger than fiction. But if truth was so amazing and strange unto itself, there would be no need for fantasy, scifi and speculative fiction. It is in the act of creating something which has never existed that new ideas and concepts emerge. And, sometimes, those concepts enter the minds of others, and can eventually become reality, or "truth" itself.
