Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

Craig Alanson On my drive to and from work Monday-Friday.
Unless by 'where' the question doesn't mean a physical 'where', but rather 'how does your brain think up this stuff'? In which case, I have no idea. My wife says there is so much junk rattling around in my brain, something is bound to spill out.

The first audiobook I listened to was Columbus Day back in 2017. It officially hooked me. I've since purchased and read every one of your books. I'm eagerly waiting for the next in the series (Deathtrap was fantastic by the way), which brings me to my question. Which authors do you follow and/or draw inspiration from? Are there any series you love and would recommend to a fellow sci-fi enthusiast?
