Goodreads asked Michael Panckridge:

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?

Michael Panckridge Well, everyone says write, write and write some more; and yes, of course that's so important. But I didn't write much in my early years; nor middle years if truth be known! For me, it's the all about the idea. It all started for me in an old commentary box on a cold, wintry day where I imagined a young boy travelling back in time to footy matches from the past. If you can get excited (really excited!) about an idea, then I think you're half way there.... or more! Be passionate and excited about what you're writing about and you'll want to write; re-write and create something wonderful.
