Paula McLain Hello, Christina. Thanks for reading The Paris Wife and thinking to reach out with a question. The book is very accurate in terms of events and characters and the general timeline, and follows the historical facts on record respectfully. What I DO make up in the novel is the characters' inner lives, everything they think and feel, and all the dialogue--obviously--since I wasn't there to overhear their conversations. Though sometimes if feels like I was!

I cannot wait until whenever you come out with your next book! I am a huge fan of your books after reading Circling the Sun. It spoke to me especially as a woman currently living in East Africa. Did you travel to Kenya when you were writing that one? Also, what made you decide to write two novels about wives of Ernest Hemingway? Was it hard to keep them separate in your mind while you were writing?
