Goodreads asked Naomi Slade:

How do you deal with writer’s block?

Naomi Slade Actually, I rarely get writers block, it is more a case of not having enough hours in the day to put down all the words and ideas. I find I am always in hot pursuit of an exciting new avenue.

That said, if I really do hit a wall then I take it as a message that I should stop trying to do what I am doing and go and do something else. My favourite thing is to get outside - go for a long walk, look at the world around me and allow reality to fuel perceptions and descriptions in literature. Climb a mountain. Go swimming. Do some gardening. Let the rhythms restore the creative flow.

As a writer it is easy to spend one's entire life in one's head, in front of a computer, and it is important to step away from that every now and then.
