Naomi Slade I was talking to a bloke in a garden and it just sort of turned up. Now hoping that the book deal also turns up...
Naomi Slade I enjoy making the words dance and the ideas come together into an engaging story. Whether it is fact or fiction, the whole purpose is to engage and entertain - as well as informing or diverting the reader.

The sheer diversity of the activity, and the fact that it springs from conversations, discoveries or just from watching the world go by, is an immense source of pleasure.
Naomi Slade Right now, I am putting together a pitch for my next brilliant book idea which I hope to get out to a couple of publishers shortly. I am also consumed with ideas for a novel, which I may have to write so that it leaves me alone!
Naomi Slade Actually, I rarely get writers block, it is more a case of not having enough hours in the day to put down all the words and ideas. I find I am always in hot pursuit of an exciting new avenue.

That said, if I really do hit a wall then I take it as a message that I should stop trying to do what I am doing and go and do something else. My favourite thing is to get outside - go for a long walk, look at the world around me and allow reality to fuel perceptions and descriptions in literature. Climb a mountain. Go swimming. Do some gardening. Let the rhythms restore the creative flow.

As a writer it is easy to spend one's entire life in one's head, in front of a computer, and it is important to step away from that every now and then.
