So much has been written about the OK Corral I almost passed this up. Now I consider Epitaph the best historical novel on the American West that I've ever read. I'd love to vote for it, but couldn't figure out how. How do we vote???

Oh, gosh, well, thank you for your kind words. The novel was submitted for several prizes but my publisher didn't know about the Spur, so the book was out of that competition. Most awards are voted on by committees within the organization that gives the prize, so unless you're a member, I'm afraid you can't vote.
I'm tempted to make a remark about presidential candidates who were never members of a party but feel entitled to complain about the rules...
Anyway, what you can do is leave a review on Amazon and Goodreads and to nag your friends and stand in bookstores saying in a loud and ringing voice, "Epitaph is the best historical novel on the American West I've ever read!"

Doc was one of my favorite novels and I remember hearing you discuss that and Epitaph at the Tucson Festival of Books. I even got my Tucson book club to read them!! I am intrigued by your change of scenery for the early Plantagenet reign. Henry ll, the first (and Richard lll the last) are my favorite of all kings. Will you include Eleanor's intrigues against him? Looking forward to everything you write!

My grandfather was an iron ore miner in Marquette at the time of your book, "Women of the Copper Country". This is my book club book for next week. I thoroughly enjoyed the book and felt deeply involved in the history. How much research did you do in producing the material? Have you been to Calumet?
