"Saddle Tramps" came about at the urging of friends, who got a kick out of my quips, adventures and observations about horses and horse people. The heroine, Pepper Kane, was far younger and had a different first name, in my first rough-draft novel, "Valley of the Shadow,." (It was written 30 years ago at two chapters a week, just to see if I could do it!)
