Just rereading Captain Vorpatril's Alliance and I keep wondering : Is it Ivan Xav like "have" or like "save"? Or something else? My mother once said that no matter how a name is spelled, it's pronounced the way the owner pronounces it. And he is in your head.

Lois McMaster Bujold I pronounce it like "have", for all that it is probably a truncation of Xavier which would go with "save". The Great Barrayaran Vowel Shift, or something...

Is it my imagination, or should there be five Chalion novels? I mean, The Curse of Chalion is the Daughter's book, Paladin of Souls is the Bastard's, The Hallowed Hunt is the Son's — the hardcovers are even bound in the gods' colours — so are there two more planned for the Father and the Mother? Somehow I picture a murder mystery and something set in a plague hospital.
