Has anyone questioned the huge flaw in this novel? Why did Zoran leave Malone and Witt alive when he could, and probably would have, killed them both after blowing up the barn?

He saw that they were knocked out unconscious and figured he was leaving them without a means to follow him, given his time factor.(less)
