Is the flaw the fact that the book is written in German?

I got the impression that because Kelly was in a rush to leave (he did set up one of the bombs to be active) that Zorin didn't have the time to wait or kill Cotton and Casseopiea, especially since they had to take all the bombs with them. He saw that they were knocked out unconscious and figured he was leaving them without a means to follow him, given his time factor.
