I'm currently reading Pretty Baby, but I can't wait to read them all! I write down inspirational quotes or passages from each of the books I read. What is your favorite line or passage from one of your books and what did it mean to you?
Mary Kubica
It is the kind of thing that would go unnoticed to a reader, but in Pretty Baby, Heidi picks up a copy of Anne of Green Gables from a used book store, and as she opens it, the previous owner's belongings fall out: a bookmark and a photograph of a girl with her grandfather. There is also an inscription on the book. I borrowed these from a book I have that used to belong to my grandparents. The inscription is verbatim, and the photograph description is one of my grandfather and me when I was a little girl. I love including small tidbits like this in my novels that are very personal to me.

Hi, Mary! I've become a fan since I've read The Good Girl. It was really the twist at the end that had a great impact on me. I was wondering if you originally thought about the ending that way or the idea came when you've already started the story and thought about it as the story progressed?

These questions are really interesting but one of them started me thinking. - You said how you felt when you published your first book. - How did you feel when you read your first review? - I've got Pretty Baby on my "to read" list & that has great reviews. - I mean, how much does it REALLY matter to an author what readers think?

Hi Mary. You're one of my favourite authors, I absolutely love your books! My question is an odd one, but I am trying to become a writer myself and have many weird methods (like drinking coffee from a straw out of my doctor who mug while listening to violin music....) so, how do you write? By that I mean: do you like quiet, do you listen to music, do you have a work space? Keep being amazing! - Josh,
