Hello Nadia, I must say I enjoyed reading your book very much. I even recommend the book to my friends, because it made me emotionally connect to Rahima. I was wondering if you share any similar traits to Nahima , and if yes what are they ?

What a great question! I surely did not create Rahima in my image and have nothing in common with her circumstances (thankfully). That being said, I would hope that I share Rahima's tenacity and thirst for knowledge. I so admire her resilience and created her thinking of the incredible strength and determination of today's Afghan girls. Thanks for reading and recommending - no higher compliment!

Not a question...just a comment. Sparks like Stars is the 1st book I’ve read by yourself. It is so well written and the most interesting book I’ve read in a year or more. Every page NOT to be skimmed! Can all of your books be as interesting?! I’m looking forward to reading your other titles. Thanks to Goodreads I came upon it.

Fantastic, bravo! In my admittedly stereotypical viewpoint, I expected to read how terrible men are towards women in this culture but sadly, I am taken aback by the women themselves who are just horrendous toward one another; mother-in-laws, sister-in-laws, such lack of grace and kindness; I am haunted by these injustices and the profound absence of sisterhood. Why such a lack of humaneness toward fellow women?
