Vrinda, just about all the facts of the novel are from Vyasa's Mahabharat and also the Bengali Mahabharat by Kashiram Das. All the emotions and thoughts of Panchaali are from my imagination.

I just read your book the Palace of Illusions. I am Indian and Hindu and I have grown up with the story of Mahabharata, just like you said you had in your introduction. Reading this has changed my entire perspective on the epic tale. I still have goosebumps from reading it. How did you get this idea to write Draupadi's viewpoint in the Mahabharata?
