Is the character of Draupadi in "The Palace of Illusions" totally fictional or inspired by some real life woman?

Swagata, Draupadi/Panchaali in Palace of Illusions is based on the epic the Mahabharat. I have added to her character elements that I believe make her timeless, interesting, and a complex woman. I made these changes based on my understanding of the original epic.

I just read your book the Palace of Illusions. I am Indian and Hindu and I have grown up with the story of Mahabharata, just like you said you had in your introduction. Reading this has changed my entire perspective on the epic tale. I still have goosebumps from reading it. How did you get this idea to write Draupadi's viewpoint in the Mahabharata?
