do you have any tips on writing novels where characters don't all sound the same?

Try to think of them as human and less as characters. Maybe equate them to real people you know, or some sort of combination of people you know. Give one a certain quirk or manner of speaking so that he or she stands out from the other characters in your novel. Just a few suggestions!
