An amazing book! I loved it I am wanting to read the tourist book too! Your book about Robert Peace made life really eye opening especially as a high schooler. What was the hardest part about writing this book? What was it like watching this all happen to your friend Robert?
Jeff Hobbs
Hi and thank you so much for reading and reaching out. It means a lot. I'm sorry for the years-long delay in responding to this--I really don't spend time on social websites but am trying to be better as my next book, Show Them You're Good, comes out in August, about young men finishing high school in different neighborhoods and aspiring for college. As for writing the book, I guess the hardest part was the pure sadness of losing someone I cared about a lot but, in the end, probably didn't know as well as I wished I had. That, and being kind of a conduit for the grief of so many others who loved him. That was a lot to carry. At the same time, there was so much laughter and kind memories shared during the writing of the book--I'm really grateful for that. I hope this finds you well, and wishing you all the best, sincerely, Jeff

Hello Jeff my name is D and I have a couple of things to say to you. Let's start with I mean this in a very respectful way possible, but why did you make this book? What did you want to gain from making this book? (respectfully). Because I feel and this is an opinion but I feel like a black person should be telling this story of Robert. like you gave us insight but you didn't inform us on who Robert really is.

Hi Jeff,
Thank you for writing such a compelling tribute to the life of Rob (and Jackie) Peace. You weave the gamut of your emotions into a poignant and infuriatingly real narrative that opened my eyes to the complexity of Rob’s choices and the circumstances beyond his control. Do you think Jackie knew what Carl did at the time? And was staying with Jackie Carl’s way of replacing Rob as man of the house?
