Goodreads asked Kate Collins:

How do you deal with writer’s block?

Kate Collins I take a break, and that may mean an hour, a day, or a week. Then I read what I've already written to see it with new eyes. Often I just write the "talking heads" scenes, where the characters chatter back and forth about the murder, with no description or prose at all. Then I can go back and fill in what I need to and take out what's not necessary.
