How do you get all of your ideas for book? I love the ascendance trilogy and I can never find any good ideas for writing a book

Joey, ideas are all around you, some of them with the most ordinary origins. The trick is to begin asking questions all the time: What is the worst thing that could happen right now? What if my best friend is spying on me? Why would they? If the doorbell rang, who would it be? What could they say to make me want to sneak out my window?
You can go on and on and in no time, you'll be flooded with ideas. Just ask questions, but be prepared, because once those answers come, you won't be able to keep away from writing them into your story! Good luck!

Hi! I am currently in the midst of writing something, but I wanted to add a little bit of me in there. Do you know if I am allowed to reference famous books or musicals (such as Hamilton perhaps?) without getting into some kind of trouble or if I had to get explicit permission?
