However, I wouldn't expect you to be baffled if you read only this one, and the semi-spoilers for previous installments shouldn't bother you.

One thing, though: This one flips back and forth between 1969 and the 2007 present. I suspect that having met Banks before makes that less disorienting, but not knowing him shouldn't ruin anything.(less)
