I'll be preteaching a bit of the vocabulary and it w…moreI teach 3rd grade (8/9 year olds) and am planning on using it for a beginning of year read aloud. I'll be preteaching a bit of the vocabulary and it will be a bit of a stretch for them but think they can handle it. The violence at the end (though not bad) is a bit of a concern for me but think the kids can handle this as well. I'm seeing others say younger and in a family setting where you can stop more to talk about things that would probably be fine but in a room full of kids, I think a great deal of it would go over their heads. Each kid/classroom unique though.(less)
