Eden Ma that basically ruined the entire series for me seeing as not only was alyss and will a great couple but like you just gotta look at the logic here, *john flanagan thinking... "hmmm what could I do to ruin the series on the last book... Ah yes let me kill off a character which I spent more than 2 books on saving, AMAZING perfect idea" LIKE WTF
Will It was a bad move to kill off alyss. Mainly I try to not read the royal ranger series because doing this kinda ruined it.
But I do think his other books (Brotherband) are turning out well and that the first ones were great.
Terenui I wish Alyss stayed in the book longer, it was a shame but it was a really good book
Tallulah i did! john flanagan killed her off too fast, it was like he didn't want to deal with her.

Wyatt Hollingsworth You have every right to disagree with me for this, but Alyss is by far the worst character in RA.

She is poorly written. She is barely in the plot at all, She sometimes comes on missions, but that's it.

She is also a huge jerk. She gets angry whenever Cassandra approaches Will. And she is possessive and angry.

Me As I said in my review, this completely ruined it for me. It was pointless. This was a great series that I now have no intention of reading again. Quite frankly, the author is a complete moron to do this, and it has taught me to avoid his other books for now as who knows who else will get killed off in between books...
Jennifer I did! I wanted to see her and Will get married! I cried for so long when she died so quickly!

Billie It was really sad when she died but I don't think it ruined the story.
I just wish they had a kid.
Memo I do not believe it ruined the series, success without end, and no harsh reality would have ruined the series. I feel the loss of Alyss was needed for the book to even take place (i did cry a bit) she didn't die that young either, and she died a hero.
Mark Kennicott It was shocking, but it becomes the catalyst for the decision to give Will a new apprentice, and creates an important story arc for his healing and growth. Given the time jump, Will had almost twenty years with Alyss before her death, and while it happened fast for the reader, there are opportunities for more stories to share those silent years, should the author decide to tell them. I was sad, but I have enjoyed the book so far (I'm half way through), and look forward to the rest.
