Manal asked Charles Sheehan-Miles:

While I was reading 'The Last Hour', mainly the part about Ray's upbringing, a question poped up...do you think the economic crises was manufactured to force young Americans to enlist in the army? I know I sound paranoid..and you would be if you've lived through the so-called 'arab spring' when you realize reading fiction is more real than present day politics.

Charles Sheehan-Miles Honestly I don't think so. In the end I think the reasons for the financial crisis were pretty well established. But it certainty had that effect on some people's lives
