Goodreads asked Kaki Olsen:

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?

Kaki Olsen Write anything and everything. I have written legal dramas, romantic comedies, satires, poetry, horror, historical fiction, religious dystopias... Everything I've written has exercised a few writing muscles and taught me something. I didn't realize I had a hilarious side until I spoofed a parody of Star Wars and found out that the director and writer introduced the story to the cast and crew. I discovered I had a pithy side by writing authentic Bostonian characters that were straight out of my upbringing in Massachusetts. And writing has helped me deal with heartbreak, depression, domestic violence, assault and especially disillusionment with the world.
