What is Sophie's problem? Why is she so stupidly stubborn? Why do people fall in love with Charles? I JUST DON'T GET IT!!!

I think her persistence comes from the conviction that the reasons people have for thinking her wrong are based in their underestimation of both her as a child and her mother as a woman. Those are not reasons to reject what she's claiming. I think Charles is lovable because he loves, accepts and respects Sophie, and doesn't limit her in the way other adults always try to. One thing I don't agree with at all is the claim that no-one could be raised by Charles and not be polite, given that both he and Sophie are subsequently often not at all polite. :)(less)
