I have always been interested in vampire mythology and knew there is a lot about vampires in the Carpathian region.
But, I'd ever only written for fun, not to get published.
But, after the death of my son, Calvert, I was in a very dark place. The death of a child is an anchor to your soul and I was drowning in grief. I wished so much he had been invincible, immortal. I wanted him to live forever and find love and family and that wasn't going to happen for him. But, I could make it happen in my stories.
It was a way to cope and it soothed me and gave me peace. I don't think I can ever stop writing these stories.
