I usually try to set up the reading challenge, but my reading comes in spurts so sometimes it just makes me depressed if I don't make a lot of progress. ;-) I've been on a reading whirlwind the past week or two, though, so maybe I would succeed this year!
I usually go through bouts of reading nothing at all (when I'm really engrossed in my own writing)...and then, when I get close to the end of a draft, I burn through a whole bunch of books. Not sure why, but that's what always seems to happen! :D
