Goodreads asked Bill Blume:

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?

Bill Blume Keep your ass in the chair, and don't stop writing. Read great writers (this doesn't necessarily mean "The Classics") and see how they make a story work. You need to read diversely in every respect; this is harder than it sounds. Beyond that, find other writers who can provide helpful feedback, and leave your ego out of it (I struggled with this for a very long time). With that last point in mind, I'm going to shamelessly plug James River Writers. Their annual conference provided me with a wonderful place to meet writers from across nation (and within my community) and learn from their experiences. www.jamesriverwriters.org
