Just a quick query: will there be a new batch of librarians, will they be children, how might they be raised, is the next POTUS also hostile, how about those other demigods, are blackholes related to yet another realm of spiritual connection? Please answer in the form of a sequel or Trilogy or Saga whichever is required. Thanks!

Hi James,
Good morning! These are all good questions. Some I have well-considered answers for, for the rest I'm on my second cup of coffee.
> will there be a new batch of librarians
Unless Carolyn is present at the end of the universe, there would almost have to be, wouldn't there? Of course, she could be present at the end of the universe. So I don't know.
> will they be children
Hmm. That's a really good question. You know, I don't think Carolyn could do that to another batch of kids. Well, she might be able to, but I doubt she'd let herself, if you follow the distinction. So probably no?

> is the next POTUS also hostile
So, Carolyn was 8 in 1977, and she's in her early thirties during the events of the book, which makes it 2001-2002ish. That makes the vice president Dick Cheney. So yes. Definitely hostile.
> how about those other demigods
A partial answer can be found in the third question from the bottom in this link.
I'm also working on something with Barry O'Shea but, as mentioned elsewhere, it sorta sucks at the moment.
> are blackholes related to yet another realm of spiritual connection?
Odd you should mention that. I love black holes and I was about this close to using one in the book I'm working on now, but I couldn't think of anything new to do with it.
Go read Lollipop and the Tar Baby by John Varley. Actually, read everything by John Varley, but especially the collection in that link and Millenium. Holy crap that guy is good.

I will do my best. Just to manage expectations, the book I'm working on now doesn't have any direct connections to Mount Char, but it's sort of thematically similar. Well, one of the characters might be Erwin's ex-wife, but its not like a main plot point.

You mention in the Qwillery interview that Erwin and Steve were Protagonists. I'm curious; Where your other characters fall? Either protag or antag. And I love the moral ambiguity of some of the characters. Carolyn and Father specifically. Father to me felt "evil" throughout the narrative and not by then end, and Carolyn who came across as good, until she didn't, but then redeemed herself

Some really excellent world-building in The Library at Mount Char. It felt like a mix of different mythologies converging together, sort of a re-alignment of all our theories and beliefs and legends. What gave you the idea for the library, and for the scale of its studies?

Thanks for answering! I agree about the David/Carolyn scene, and I think it was handled really well. I actually felt that the bull scene was a lot more shocking. I also think the book is more dark fantasy than horror. How did you know when to make the switch from writing books for 'the drawer' to writing one that you felt was good enough to try and get published? Thanks!
