Goodreads asked Marie Bostwick:

How do you deal with writer’s block?

Marie Bostwick In my experience, the best way to deal with writers block is to bash your way through it. In other words, write. Just write. Even if what you're writing is bad, even if you end up having to delete it all later, the act of writing is the only thing will move us past fear, negative voices in our heads, and creative dry spells into fields of fresh inspiration.

I also believe that, in addition to writing, it is important to feed our creativity in other areas. Listen to good music, visit an art museum, pick up a paintbrush. I engage in a number of secondary artistic pursuits - quilting, painting, piano - for the sheer pleasure of it. I don't play the piano nearly as well as I write, but this and my other secondary art forms help feed and inform my primary art form - writing.
