When doing research for Faceless (loved it) did you ever meet or speak to people who had undergone a face transplant or those who had been disfigured due to an accident? What was that like?

Thank you for your question -- I'm so glad you loved Faceless! The novel was partly inspired by an article about face transplants that my editor shared with me. But that article was just the beginning! I was lucky enough to find various articles in-print and online about face transplants, and to have doctor-friends and friends-of-friends who were willing to answer my many, many questions about transplants.

I just read Faceless, and it was fascinating. I did some Googling about face transplants. I noticed that the people who have received them are adults--the youngest person who received a transplant (that I found in my quick search) was 21. So, I was wondering, in your research for the book, did anyone mention if this procedure would be possible for a teenager or if there'd be a reason why a teen wouldn't receive one?
