Hello Ms./ Mrs. Kova? While I was just perusing random books on Goodreads and found your series today. I haven't even read the first book yet and am already getting overly hyped. I feel like this is a series that I could buy off Amazon right away without any reservations, which I have done in the past, however; each book in hardcover is $30. I was just wondering why that is?

Hey there, Jesse!
If you take a chance on the series I hope it matches any hype you have. And, if it doesn't, there's so many wonderful books out there... I know you'll find just the right ones for you!
Okay, now onto your question... This is one of the big things about being an Indie author that I struggle with: getting my books out there and the pricing associated. It comes down to a concept called "Economies of Scale". Traditionally published books have an "initial print run" that's based off perceived demand from booksellers. They print thousands of copies of a book, making each individual copy cost much less to print so they can charge less for each.
Indie authors (or self-published, if you prefer), like me, use "Print on Demand" systems. Meaning every book is printed when it is requested. Because it's small scale each book costs a lot more to print, hardcovers especially. So, after printing costs, retailer cuts, I really don't make much on my hardcovers... not much more or less than any of my other formats, actually, despite the price difference.
I hope that makes sense. There isn't an element of greed with the price differences. And, luckily, I can price the eBook very reasonably because there isn't a printing cost associated there.
All the best,
EK

Hi, Elise- another couple of questions :) 1) Where did you come up with the character names? They're really unique and I'm just curious about the origin. 2) In the books Vhalla is said to have dark brown hair but in the coverart it's light brown/blonde? 3) Do you ever go to anything like Geekycon or do appearances? I'd love to know how to get signed copies :)

I've recently fallen in love with AIR AWAKENS and your writing style. I love the way you create characters and romance and worlds. Having said that, I'm curious– are there any plans for a new series outside of AIR AWAKENS, or will you be staying with that world for a little bit longer? Either option sounds fantastic to me, I'm just wondering if there's something else you're going to surprise us with. :)
