A Goodreads user asked T. Coraghessan Boyle:

One comment / one question for you T.C. T.C., O how much I loved After the Plague, in particular Friendly Skies. My whole book club chose to hate it, saying everyone of your characters were drunks or cynics, but I was happy that they read it and disagreed whole-heartedly. Also, what would be your advice for a person who loves writing poetry and wants to begin writing short stories ( but doesn't know how) ?

T. Coraghessan Boyle I wrote "Friendly Skies" two years or so prior to 9/11. Drunks and cynics, incidentally, are the finest people. As for poetry/fiction, so much poetry is narrative poetry, yes? So there's a start.
