I felt The Harder They Come was almost an update of Tortilla Curtain, in that both books were looking at the current issues of the world through the lens of a couple of Californian families. Was that at all intentional?

Nice comparison, Glenn. I've always been a socially engaged writer, in that I worry about everything all the time with regard to the human condition and our strange existence on this strange planet.

I just finished The Terranauts, but I am a little dissatisfied with the end. Or maybe not, maybe I am just dissatisfied, because the characters are totally human,normal,average, in everything, aside from being Terranauts? I read it, while riding a raft around Brandenburgs waterworld with 6 other people. We were totally in nature,not much other stuff but birds, trees water. It was the perfect book for the adventure.
