Goodreads asked Jo Ann Bender:

How do you get inspired to write?

Jo Ann Bender As publisher for my husband's premier historical novel: Courage Beyond Expectations, I have been in the marketing mode for his book. We have been visiting Native American tribal headquarters, casinos, museums, etc.

As a writer, I find it wasted energy to try to write and extensively bring out a new work at the same time. This may be possible for other authors, but marketing is a vast job using far different skills.

The current press is vendors for community events. During the recent Rendevous in Colville, Wa., he was pleased to have sold out. Following his invited performance, the local radio station requested an interview. The following day, several men in the area made a special trip to meet him and to buy a book.

At the Rendevous we met the Native American Sandra Ashley (Redpath), an Indian Historican and Cultural Intractor. She gave us tips to aid our first impressions at the Falls Native Pow Wow coming up Aug. 28-30.

The U.S. program to put Native children in boarding schools through the l960's has resulted in the same terrors during their later years as the children born in the 26 Lebensborn homes throughout Europe before and during WWII: shamed lives, suicides, drug addictions, etc.

An intense Native American project is now taking place across the U.S. in their attempt to reconcile and give forgiveness to those who planned and carried out the activities that did such damage.
